Torcello
Torcello is an island in the laguna morta, the northern part of the Venetian lagoon, where the tides are no longer detectable. The island of Torcello is about 150 metres north of the islands of Burano and Mazzorbo, separated by the Canale di Burano. The island is about 45 hectares in size, and only two metres above the waterline. Only 25 permanent residents call the island home.
